Purpose

Deliveries are created for an SD scheduling agreement. Shipping notifications can be used to inform the customer of the planned delivery dates and quantities. The deliveries can be initiated by the customer via forecast delivery schedules.

The sold-to party receives information about the planned delivery dates in the form of a shipping notification, which can be used to simplify goods receipt.

Prerequisites

A forecast delivery schedule must exist. You should also read the following scenario: Forecast delivery schedule

Process flow

Outbound

On the SD side, post a delivery and use output control to generate a shipping notification which is sent to the customer via EDI.

Inbound

On the MM side, the shipping notification is processed. If the shipping notification is relevant to material planning, the defined quantity is included in the material planning procedure.
