Use

In Inventory Management, all goods movements are valuated at the retail price valid according to the conditions on the posting date, unless you specify otherwise. You can enter a retail price if revaluation for local markdowns is permitted in the revaluation profile.

If goods movements are valuated at the retail price valid on the posting date, this can lead to inaccuracies in the value at retail. Inaccuracies may occur if the posting date is different to the current date, the retail price has changed since the posting date, and the stock has since been revaluated.

To avoid these inaccuracies, you carry out an automatic revaluation at retail. A special transaction is provided in standard Customizing for the revaluation at retail. You must assign a reason for the price change to this transaction. You use this reason for the price change to select the transactions for evaluation purposes in the Retail Information System (RIS).

A retail revaluation document is generated for any difference generated as a result of a revaluation. The Retail price currency field is not filled, as the old and the new retail prices are determined from Inventory Management data and are therefore displayed in local currency. No retail price currency exists in this case.

Example

The following is an example of when automatic revaluation is needed:

In this example, a sale is made at the POS on 20.05. However, POS inbound processing takes place one day later. As the retail value of the stock has already changed, the system uses the new price of 2.00 for valuation in POS inbound processing.

As a result, the transaction is valuated at 20.00, even though the actual value of the sale was 15.00. A retail revaluation document is created for the difference of 5.00. This document does not affect the inventory.
