Articles: Reference Data from the Generic Article
Use
Data is proposed from the generic article for all variants, except for EANs, consumption values, and forecast values. Changes to the generic article are copied to the corresponding fields for the variants if the fields have not been maintained differently. This saves you having to maintain separate purchasing info records and/or prices for the variants in particular. If you do maintain this data separately, changes to the purchasing info record and/or prices for the generic article are not copied to the variants.
Prerequisites
Data is proposed and changes copied from the generic article to the corresponding fields for the variants only if the system is configured accordingly in Customizing (see
Articles: Reference Data).Activities
The descriptions of the variants are created automatically from the description of the generic article and from the characteristic values of the variant-creating characteristics.
