Process Components in Planned Order
Procedure
Choose Components.
The component overview for the planned order material appears. The system displays the component processing status that was saved last. If you have recreated the planned order, the system explodes the BOM and copies the BOM items generated into the planned order as components.
Changing Components
The system displays the material number, plant and item number for the component selected in the lower screen area. The system displays additional information according to the item category. You can take the item category from the Item category column.
Item Category |
Displayed/Processible Information |
Stock item |

Non-stock item |

Variable-sized item |
|
Text item |
In the Texts area, the system displays the entered long texts. |
Phantom assembly |
The requirements for a phantom assembly are passed on to the components as dependent requirements. Therefore, in the upper part of the screen, the system displays the components of the phantom assembly as well as the phantom assembly itself.

You access the previous item with . By choosing Component overview, you close the screen area for processing components and return to the component overview.
Creating Components
You can create a storage location item or a variable-sized item.
Using the collective entry option, you can create several new components at the same time. For each component, a line exists in which you can enter the material number, the requirement quantity and the requirements date. Choose Collective entry for this.
In the detailed entry screen, you can enter detailed data for an individual component. Choose Detail entry.
In the lower part of the screen, a section is displayed where you can enter the following data for the new component: material number, requirement quantity and unit of measure, requirements date, firming indicator, distribution key, latest requirement date.
If the new component should be a stock item and not a variable-size item, choose Variable-size data. A dialog box appears where you can enter the corresponding data.
Deleting Components
Select the component that you want to delete and choose Edit
® Delete. The selected component is deleted.
Retrieving Deleted Components
Choose Goto
® Display deleted entries.Select the required components and choose .
The system displays the deleted components in the component overview again.
If you create components in the components processing screen manually, these new components will be overwritten when you then manually explode the BOM. The manually created components are thus deleted again. You can retrieve these deleted components by following the steps described above.
Displaying Documents for the Header Material and for the Components
In the left screen area, the system displays a structure tree with the components for the planned order. If you work with phantom assemblies, the system displays the phantom assemblies and their components hierarchically. You can thus get an overview of the structure of the planned order quickly.
If you have assigned documents to the material (either in the material master or, if the material is used as a BOM item, in BOM maintainence), a list of all the documents assigned appears.
The system displays the document in an internal or external viewer. You determine the selection of the viewer in Customizing for document management in the IMG activity Define workstation application.
You can find further information about the internal viewer under
Choose in the structure tree and then Enter, if you have deleted or created components and want to update the structure tree correspondingly.
