Product Cost by Order

Product Cost by Order

You use the Product Cost by Order component for manufacturing orders ( production orders and process orders).

For a manufacturing order you normally perform the following costing steps:

Preliminary costing calculates the
planned costs for a manufacturing order.
Simultaneous costing is achieved through collection of actual costs for each cost object (manufacturing order, for example). You can veiuw the actual costs in the information system at any time.
Final costing is performed during the period-end closing process.

If your production planning system is not an SAP system, you can collect the costs in the SAP system on a production order without a quantity structure. The costs for such orders are planned manually using a cost estimate without quantity structure.

Further Notes

To be able to view the data in the information system, you must make a number of settings in Customizing for the Product Cost Controlling Information System.

Note

If the total number of orders is 100,000 or more (including maintenance orders, process orders, production cost collectors, and internal orders) you should read Note 45290 in the OSS. If you have no access to the OSS, contact the SAP Hotline.
