Configuring SAP NetWeaver using SAP Solution Manager

SAP Solution Manager supports you throughout the entire life-cycle of your solutions, from the Business Blueprint to the configuration to production processing. It provides central access to tools, methods and preconfigured contents which you can use during evaluation, implementation and operational processing of your systems.

Context

You base a Business Blueprint, which contains your project structure, with your company-specific business scenarios, on your project that you create in SAP Solution Manager. In the configuration phase, you use your project and its project structure, to configure the structure elements for your business scenarios in the development systems. The solution documentation model depends on the release of SAP Solution Manager.

Procedure

  • SAP Solution Manager 7.1 contains descriptions of all configuration tasks for SAP systems based on SAP NetWeaver 7.5 or lower , and leads you to automated configuration procedures, where available.
    1. To be able to use SAP Solution Manager 7.1 for configuring your systems, you have to import the latest available Support Package for the SAP Solution Manager 7.1 Implementation Content (Add-On ST-ICO).

SAP Solution Manager Implementation Content is available on SAP Service Marketplace at http://support.sap.com/swdcInformation published on SAP siteStart of the navigation path Next navigation step Installations & Upgrades Next navigation step Entry by Application Component Next navigation step SAP Technology Components Next navigation step SAP Solution Manager Next navigation step <Release> Next navigation step Content Next navigation step ST-ICOEnd of the navigation path.

See also 631042 Information published on SAP site ( Release strategy for Implementation Content (ST-ICO)).

    2. You create a project and a project structure in SAP Solution Manager to access the configuration tasks.

In the configuration phase, you select configuration structures with pre-delivered SAP content for your project.

You can either access the configuration task in the configuration structure or create a printable configuration guide.

  • In SAP Solution Manager 7.2, the dual concept of solutions and projects is replaced by a new solution documentation model, based on a hierarchical structure, which uses a new unified solution concept as the single, central point of access for all Solution Documentation content.

The new solution comprises the description of your system landscape as well as the documentation of your business processes, interfaces, technical objects and custom developments.
