Working in the General Settings of a Launchpad
Procedure
You can make changes in the General Settings of a launchpad which are then valid for all applications contained in it.
To make changes in the General Settings, proceed as follows:
-
On the SAP Easy Access screen, enter the transaction LPD_CUST in the command field.
-
Locate and open your launchpad.
-
On the menu bar, choose .
-
In the Change Launchpad Role dialog box you can make the following settings:
-
OBN Navigation Mode
-
User Set of Roles
An object-based navigation (OBN) target can be assigned to any roles that are assigned to a user.
-
Source Role
The navigation target must be assigned to the same role as the application that uses the launchpad.
-
-
Application Aliases
Application aliases are not necessarily unique. Select Check for Unique Application Aliases to check that a destination application alias being used by a Floorplan Manager application is unique.
-
Actions
-
Select Set Icons as Selectable to be able to select folder icons in a Floorplan Manager Launchpad component for navigation.
-
Select Show Application IDs to display an additional field, Application ID, in the Link Details area of a folder or application inside a launchpad. This is a technical ID, a Global Unique Identifier (GUID).
-
Use Shared Memory
When you select this field, the launchpad reads data from shared memory instead of the database after the initial reading (there is one exception; in transaction LPD_CUST the data is always read from the database). If you navigate away from and back to the launchpad, the launchpad data is read from shared memory. Additionally, if you close the application and reopen it, or open another application within the same launchpad, the data may still be read from shared memory; this is dependent on the lifetime of the data in shared memory (set to 60 minutes).

Logon Language of Target Applications
You can set the logon language of the target applications of a launchpad independent of the browser logon language.
For example, you are running an application in the Portal. The browser logon language is set to English. However, you require that your SAP Employee Self Services (SAP ESS) application has a logon language of Swedish. You create an iView for this and adjust the logon language accordingly. However, the targets of any navigation links in this system will be opened in English (the logon language of the browser).
Therefore, you can choose from the following options:
-
Front End Logon Language
Target application is opened in the logon language of the front end (for example, browser, SAP Enterprise Portal, SAP NetWeaver Business Client (SAP NWBC).
-
Back End Logon Language
Target application is opened in the language of the current system.
-
Logon Language
Target application is opened in the language that you specify in this field.
