Personalizing a Launchpad at Runtime

Launchpads based on the Stand-Alone launchpad type display a button at runtime, Change Launchpad, which allows the user to personalize a launchpad.

You may not change the text of the Change Launchpad button.

When the user personalizes a launchpad, a new launchpad is created in the Launchpad Customizing with all the changes made by the user.

As Administrator, you can choose not to display the Change Launchpad button at runtime so that users are unable to make changes to a launchpad. To do this, set the application parameter NO_CHANGE_LIST_BUTTON to X or the URL parameter NO_CHANGE_LIST_BUTTON=X.

To personalize a launchpad at runtime, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose the Change Launchpad button.

    The Change Launchpad dialog box is displayed.

  2. You can now make the following changes to the launchpad:

    • Reorganize the layout of applications within the launchpad

      Use the Create Folder button, and the Up and Down buttons to rearrange applications in the launchpad.

    • Use the Show and Hide buttons to display or hide an application in the launchpad.

      Note that if you have flagged an application as non-removable in the Launchpad Customizing, the user is unable to hide the application.

    • Copy an application

      You can make copies of applications of type Transaction and BI Query. Copies allow you to display variants (for Transaction applications) and different views for BI Query applications. To do this, select the application, and choose Copy. Choose the Details button, and select the Variant or View option for Entries After Start. Enter the name of the variant or view in the accompanying field and choose Close.

    • Delete copied applications

      The Delete button deletes only those applications that you have copied in the launchpad.

    • Choose whether to display application descriptions in full, in part, or not at all

      Choose Details. Choose an option from the Description dropdown list. The option affects all application descriptions in the launchpad, that is, you cannot display a full description for one application, and no description for another application.

    • Change the hyperlink text of an application

      Choose Details, and enter an alternative name for the application in the Separate Name field.

  3. Choose OK and refresh the screen to see the changes you have made.
