Generating a Report Group

Use

Once you have defined a report group, the next step is to generate the report group. When you generate a report group, any errors and/or warnings found in the report group's reports are displayed on the screen. Since the Generate function uses your report definition to generate ABAP programs, you must regenerate the report group whenever you change the report definition or when you change the sets used in the report.

Before you generate a report group, you should check all of the report group's reports for errors using the Start of the navigation path Report Next navigation step Check Next navigation step function. Your processing time will be quicker if you check the reports and then correct the errors and warnings in the reports Next navigation step before Next navigation step you generate the report group. Report groups are regenerated automatically after a Support Package has been imported. If you change an object used in a report group and in the header attributes of the report group, in the group box Generation , the indicator Not automatic is not checked, the system regenerates the report group without issuing a query.

When you generate a report group, the system uses the standard layout and texts that are assigned to the report according to the language you signed on in .

  • If you sign on to the system in English, the system uses the English version of the standard layout and texts assigned to the report.

  • If you sign on to the system in German, the system uses the German version of the standard layout and texts assigned to the report.

If reports are to be available in several languages, you must define the languages concerned in Customizing . Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Report Painter Next navigation step Report Writer Next navigation step Report Group Next navigation step Execute End of the navigation path .

The Execute Report Group: Initial Screen appears.

You can also generate a report group from the Create/Change/Display Report Group screens by choosing Start of the navigation path Report group Next navigation step Generate End of the navigation path .

  1. Enter the name of the report group that you want to generate.

Caution Caution

When you generate a report group, the system deletes any existing data extracts defined for the report group. The system first displays a dialog box where you can either select the extract stored or a new selection is made. For more information on defining saved report data, see Executing Report Groups .

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Report group Next navigation step Generate End of the navigation path .

The system begins to generate the report group. When the system has finished generating the report group, a dialog box appears, displaying any errors or warnings that occurred during generation.
