Creating Set Variables

  1. On the Create Set Variable: Basic Data screen, enter a description for the variable.

  2. The name of the table field used for the variable is defaulted as the variable description. You can change this description as required.

  3. Set one of the indicators in the Default entries group box to determine which default values are used for the set variable:

  4. – If you select All values , you do not have to enter a default set for the variable. The system automatically creates a set containing all possible values defined for the field that the variable uses.

You create a set variable called VAR-CTR for the dimension Cost center and set the All values indicator. If you use variable VAR-CTR in a report definition and execute the report, the system selects data for all cost centers according to the selection criteria you enter.

    – If you select Default set , enter the name of default set for the variable. You can only enter basic and single-dimension sets. The table field of the default set must be compatible with the table field of the set variable you are creating.

The default set automatically appears when the system prompts you to enter a variable (for example, when you are executing a Report Writer report). You can use the default set or enter a new set name for the set variable.

  5. Specify which input fields you want to appear on the selection screens in reporting when you execute a report that contains a set variable. You can replace a set variable with either a set or individual values.

  6. If you select Set and value entry , the report selection screen contains one input field for a set and input fields for specific values or ranges of values.

If you create a set variable for a field in a Controlling (CO) table, specify whether the set variable can only be replaced with CO groups when you execute a report that contains the set variable.

For example, if you create a set variable for the field Cost element (KSTAR) in table CCSS and select Only replace with groups , you can only replace the set variable with cost element groups and no other sets.

  7. Enter an authorization group for the variable, if required

  8. You can use the following additional functions on this screen.

  9. Additional Processing Functions - Create Set Variable: Basic Data Screen

    Choose

    To

    Goto Parameter ID...

Enter a SET/GET parameter for the default value of the variable.

    Utilities Variable directory

    Display a directory of variables.

    Utilities Non-used variables

Display a directory of variables that are not used in the system. You can then delete these variables if required.

    Utilities Transport Export

Export variables to an external file.

    Utilities Transport Import

Import variables from an external file.

    Utilities Transport Copy from client

Copy variables from client 000 (or another client) to the client in which you are working.

    Utilities Transport Transport request

Include a variable in a Customizing transport request and transport the variable. For more information, see the Transport Sets/Variables activity in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Special Purpose Ledger (FI-SL).

  10. To save the variable, choose VariableSave .
