Analyzing and Cleaning Legacy Data

Procedure

You must analyze your legacy data so that you can assign it later to the data fields in the transfer file.

Consider the following questions:

Which data exists?
How is this data structured (length, sequence)?
Which data can be transferred unmodified, which must be converted, and which cannot be transferred at all?

Note

You can supplement data that does not exist in your legacy system in the conversion process.

You can also clean up your data either before or after it has been extracted from the source system.
