SAP Mobile Cards for iOS

Overview

SAP Mobile Cards for iPhone is a wallet-style app that lets you mobilize enterprise data as micro apps, anywhere and anytime. Customizable sample cards include sales orders, products, company news, SAP Inbox, common HR data from SAP SuccessFactors solutions, and more.

Note

SAP Mobile Cards is currently available only for iPhones running the latest two versions of iOS. SAP Mobile Cards does not support iPhone 5 even if it runs on iOS 12.

Card type is determined by the template used to create a Fiori application. For more information about card types, contact your system administrator.

Installing the Application

To use SAP Mobile Cards, you must install the application on your iPhone.

You can download the app directly from the Apple App Store. The application installs the SAP Mobile Cards app icon on your iPhone's home screen.

Launching the Application

Launch the application by tapping SAP Mobile Cards application icon

Registering the Application

Register SAP Mobile Cards so that it can retrieve application settings from the server.

Context

If your system administrator has automatically configured SAP Mobile Cards, you won't see the registration screen. Instead, you'll see the logon screen. If that's the case, go directly to Logging on to the Application.

If your system administrator hasn't automatically configured SAP Mobile Cards, follow the steps below to register the app. You only need to register the app the first time you use it, or if you reset or reinstall it. Once you've registered the app, you'll be able to receive card information and updates on your iPhone.

Procedure

  1. From the Registration Required screen, enter the following information, provided to you by your system administrator:

    • The Server URL or Email

    • (If required) OAuth Client ID

    • (If required) OAuth Endpoint URL

  2. Tap Register.

Logging on to the Application

Log on to the SAP Mobile Cards application on your iPhone.

  1. From the logon screen, enter the following information, provided to you by your system administrator:

    • User ID or Email

    • Password

  2. If you've been redirected to the Authorize Client screen, select Authorize. If you select Cancel, you are redirected back to the Registration Required screen, and you see a message telling you that the registration was not successful. For a successful registration, you must authorize the SAP Mobile Cards application to retrieve data from the server.

Setting a Passcode

Set a passcode to prevent unauthorized access to your SAP Mobile Cards application.

When you set a passcode, anyone trying to access SAP Mobile Cards from your mobile device must enter the passcode. Using a passcode provides additional security to prevent unauthorized access.

Your app passcode is different from your password. A passcode is stored locally on your device and is never shared with the server or any other system. Your password authenticates you against the server so that the app can securely communicate with the server to send and receive data.

Note

Your system administrator decides if a passcode is required. If you do not see an option to set a passcode and want to set one, follow the steps in the procedure below.

The application uses the following default passcode settings:

  • Must have at least eight characters.
  • Must contain at least one uppercase and one lowercase letter.
  • Must contain a special character.
  • Must contain at least one digit.
  • Must contain at least two unique characters.

Note

Your system administrator can override these default settings.

To change, set, or disable your passcode, do the following in the SAP Mobile Cards Client:

  1. Tap the More tab at the bottom-right of the screen.

  2. Tap Settings

In the Security section of the Settings screen, you'll see options to change your passcode and to turn your passcode on or off. Note that your system administrator can disable these options.

For information about disabling a passcode, see SAP Mobile Cards Settings.

Customize Notifications

When you're within range of an address that corresponds to a card, or when a future date and time on a card is reached, notifications are sent to your iPhone.

  • Timestamp – a card contains a specific date and time. You automatically receive a notification on the specified date. Location services don't have to be enabled to receive timestamp notifications.
  • Location – a card contains an address. When location services are enabled, you receive a notification when you are within range of the address. When location services are disabled, you don't receive location-specific notifications.

When a card contains both a location and a timestamp, and you are within range of the location on the date and at the time specified in the timestamp, you receive a notification for each.

Timestamp-Specific Notifications

Set a timestamp-specific notification for cards that contain future dates and times.

When a card contains a future date and time as part of its data, SAP Mobile Cards automatically creates a reminder notification. You can disable reminders at any time.

  1. In the upper-right corner of the card, select the action-settings icon.

  2. Select the bell icon to open the notifications screen for that subscription.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • To disable reminders, move the slider to the left. Do not proceed further.

    • To enable reminders, move the slider to the right, then proceed with the following steps.

    • To edit a reminder notification, complete Steps 4 and 5.

  4. Select Starts, and choose a date and time.

  5. Select Repeat, and choose one of the following:

    • Never

    • Every Day

    • Every Week

    • Every Month

    • Every Year

Note

For subscriptions with flavors, the reminders can be set by tapping the bell icon corresponding to that flavor.

Location-Specific Notifications

Set a location-specific notification to notify you when you're within range of the specified address.

To set a location-specific notification, do the following:

  1. In the upper-right corner of the card, select the action-settings icon.

  2. Select the bell icon to open the notifications screen for that subscription.

  3. Select Notifications → Location → Set current location.

    Note

You can only set your current location. If you select Open, you're redirected to iOS Maps where you can get directions to the address on the card (if there is one).

  4. To set the range (you'll receive a notification if you're within the specified distance from the set location), select the drop-down menu, and choose one of the following:

    • Near - 10 meters
    • Far - 2000 meters

Note

For subscriptions with flavors, the reminders can be set by tapping the bell icon corresponding to that flavor.

iPhone Shake Gesture

Shake your mobile device to see time- or location-relevant cards, or both, in the SAP Mobile Cards card deck.

The shake-gesture feature detects a timestamp (date and time), an address (location), or both, on cards in a card deck. When location services are enabled, and you're within range of an address that corresponds to one found on a card in the deck, the relevant card is shown when you shake your mobile device. No location-specific cards are shown if location services are disabled.

If a card contains a timestamp that's within the same day you shake your mobile device, that is, by 11:59 PM, the relevant card is shown. For timestamps, location services do not need to be enabled for the relevant cards to be shown.

If a card contains both a corresponding address and a relevant timestamp and location services are disabled, the card appears based only on the timestamp. If there are no relevant cards when you shake your mobile device, no cards appear.

Adding an iOS Today View Widget for SAP Mobile Cards

Add an SAP Mobile Cards widget to your iPhone's Today View.

  1. Swipe right over the Home Screen or Lock Screen, or press the Home Screen button.

  2. Scroll to the bottom, then tap Edit.

  3. From the Add Widgets list, under More Widgets, tap the add icon for Mobile Cards.

  4. Tap Done.

Note

To remove the widget, tap the remove icon, then tap Remove.

Once added, the SAP Mobile Cards widget contains the following two sections:

  • What's New – This content is controlled by your system administrator.

  • Recent Cards – Shows you the 4 most recent cards you've viewed in the SAP Mobile Cards app.

When you unregister the SAP Mobile Cards app, the associated widget prompts you to sign in to SAP Mobile Cards. Tap on the widget to sign in.

Searching for Cards

Search for cards in the SAP Mobile Cards card deck.

  1. In the search field above the card deck, enter your search terms.

  2. Tap Search.

    Note

If multiple cards contain the same search terms, the search returns all cards that match, regardless of the card group. For example, if you search for customer, every card containing that term is included in the search result.

Use iOS Spotlight search to find cards without launching the SAP Mobile Cards app.

When this feature is enabled by the system administrator, you can enter search terms in the Spotlight search field, and the search returns all cards that match. For example, if you search for customer, every card containing that term is included in the search result.

When you tap a card that's part of the returned search results, the SAP Mobile Cards app is launched and the full card is displayed.

Note

When using Spotlight search, SAP Mobile Cards data is shared with the iOS operating system to allow it to search for content. If you prefer that data not be shared with iOS, contact your system administrator to disable the feature, or use the search field in the SAP Mobile Cards app. When spotlight search is disabled, any data shared previously with iOS is deleted from the iOS database.

Subscribing or Unsubscribing to Cards

You can manage what information is stored in the card deck on your iPhone via card subscriptions.

Depending on the card type, you are either automatically subscribed or unsubscribed. For more information about card types, please contact your system administrator.

  1. In the More tab at the bottom-right of the screen, tap Subscriptions.

  2. In the Subscriptions screen, choose one of the following:

    • All – list of all available card subscriptions. Card subscriptions can each contain one or more cards.
    • Subscribed – list of existing card subscriptions.
  3. Choose an available card subscription, then select one of the following:

    • Subscribe – Activates a subscription. If additional parameters are required while subscribing, you will have to provide the value. If no cards are added to the card deck after you've subscribed, it could be a permissions-related issue. For more information, please contact your system administrator.

    • Unsubscribe – Depending on the card type, all applicable cards are removed from the deck, or the subscription is canceled and the cards remain in the deck. For cards with canceled subscriptions that remain in the deck, go to the back of each card and choose Delete.

    Note

Once a subscription is active, the back of each card in the deck displays the name of the card subscription that it belongs to.

Viewing Cards in a Card Group

View cards that are grouped by card type in the SAP Mobile Cards card deck.

Paperclips separate individual card groups in the deck. When there are two or more cards in a group, an icon with a number value lets you know how many cards are in a particular group. For groups with ten or more cards, the icon displays 9+. When there are two or more cards in a group, only two cards appear in the deck, which makes it easier to tell each group apart.

  1. Tap the card group you want to view.

  2. If there is more than one card, swipe left to view all cards in the group.

    Note

Swipe right to make your way back to the first card in the group.

  3. Once you're done, tap the card group to close it.

Rearranging Card Groups

Move a card group to the front or the back of the SAP Mobile Cards card deck.

Do one of the following:

  • To move a card group to the front of the deck, touch the card group you want to move and swipe down.

  • To move a card group to the back of the deck, touch the card group you want to move and swipe up.

Note

When there are only two cards, whether in the same group or different groups, you can move either card to the front or back.

SAP Mobile Cards Settings

To access the Settings screen in the SAP Mobile Cards Client, in the More tab at the bottom-right of the screen, tap the Settings option.

From the iOS Settings app, you can access SAP Mobile Cards settings.

  • Disconnect from Server – resets the SAP Mobile Cards app to its default settings. All registration and card data is deleted. This setting is disabled by default.

  • Turn Passcode On or Turn Passcode Of

  • Change Passcode

  • Notification on Update: turn this on to receive a notification when a card is changed.

Viewing the Activity Log

You can view the activity log to see performed and pending actions.

  1. Tap the More tab in the bottom-right of the screen. On the More screen, tap the Logs option.

  2. In the Activity Logs screen, choose one of the following:

    • All – displays a list of all performed actions. An action is performed either successfully or unsuccessfully and logged accordingly. Deleted cards are also logged.

      Note

You cannot clear the log history.

    • Pending Actions – displays a list of actions waiting to be performed. When you perform developer -specified actions such as Approve and Reject for cards in the deck while offline, a log entry is created under Pending Actions. Once a server connection is established, the pending action is performed, and a log entry is created under All. When you tap on a pending action log entry, you're redirected to the card it's associated with. For more information about performing actions, see Performing Actions from the Card Deck.

Note

When the activity log icon is blue, there are new pending log entries.

Sharing Cards Using iMessage

Share cards with registered SAP Mobile Cards users via iMessage.

  1. From iMessage, select the SAP Mobile Cards app.

  2. Select a card to share.

  3. Tap the upload icon located in the bottom-right corner of the card. You can choose to add a comment to accompany the card.

  4. Tap the send icon to add the card to the conversation.

Note

For card groups, tap the group, then select a card. When the recipient taps on the received card from the conversation window, the SAP Mobile Cards application launches, and the card is added to the recipient's card deck. If the recipient taps the card from the conversation window while offline, the app launches, but the card isn't added to the recipient's card deck. Non-registered SAP Mobile Cards users who receive a card aren't able to do anything with it beyond seeing it in the conversation window.

Performing Actions From the Card Deck

Quickly perform developer specified actions from the SAP Mobile Cards card deck: call, text, or email a customer, locate an address, share cards, search for related cards, or edit published card content.

These actions are performed either directly within the SAP Mobile Cards app, or, in some cases, via the iOS Notification Center. If relevant information is missing from the card, for example, a phone number, the corresponding option does not appear.

Note

Overview cards only support the Open (Details) and Cancel action options. Card type is determined by the template used to create a Fiori application. For additional information about card types, contact your system administrator.

  1. Tap the upload icon located below the card in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

  2. Perform one of the following actions (if available):

    • Developer Specified Actions – Card-specific actions provided by developer. For example, Accept or Reject for new cards added to the card deck. When performing this type of action, a pop-up dialog may appear prompting you to enter information, for example, a reason for rejecting a card.

    Note

When either the Accept or Reject action is performed successfully, if you tap the icon, the selected action is grayed out until the next successful application sync, at which time the card may be removed if deleted, or the options reset if accepted. Every time a developer-specified action is performed, it's logged in the activity log. For more information, see Viewing the Activity Log.

    • Share – Share a card via email with an SAP Mobile Cards user. The email contains a prepopulated link that recipients tap to download the card to their respective devices. If a recipient sees the message Not authorized to download the card, that person should contact their system administrator.

    • Call – Call a phone number listed on a card.

    • SMS – Send a text message to a phone number listed on a card.

    • Email – Send an email to an email address listed on a card.

    • Open Maps – Get directions to an address listed on a card.

    • Open (Details) – Edit card content. Opens Fiori launchpad in a Safari browser. See Editing a Card for more information.

    • Search Related Cards – Find cards that share similar information, for example, the same customer name or ID. Unlike using the search field, a related card search only returns exact matches, not partial ones. Your system administrator defines which cards are related, and cards can share more than one identifier. For more information, please contact your system administrator.

    Note

By pressing down on a card for a few seconds, you can trigger the related card search.

    • Cancel – closes action options.

Performing Card-Specific Actions From Notifications on Your Mobile Device
