Setting a Passcode¶
Set a passcode to prevent unauthorized access to your SAP Mobile Cards application.
When you set a passcode, anyone trying to access SAP Mobile Cards from your mobile device must enter the passcode.
Your app passcode is different from your phone password. A passcode is stored locally on your device and is never shared with the server or any other system. Your password authenticates you against the server so that the app can securely communicate with the server to send and receive data.
The application uses the following default passcode settings:
-
Must be at least eight characters long.
-
Must contain at least one uppercase and one lowercase letter.
-
Must contain a special character.
-
Must contain at least one digit.
-
Must contain at least two unique characters.
Note
Your system administrator can override these default settings.
To change, set, or disable your passcode, do the following in the SAP Mobile Cards Client:
-
Tap the More tab at the bottom-right of the screen
-
Tap Settings
Note
In the Security section of the Settings screen, you'll see options to change your passcode and to turn your passcode on or off. Note that your system administrator can disable these settings.
Note
If you want to change your passcode, tap the options menu at the upper-right corner of the screen, then select Change Passcode. If you've forgotten your passcode, you must reset the SAP Mobile Cards app in the Android Settings menu.
Enabling Fingerprint Authentication¶

To use fingerprint authentication, make sure you have:
-
A device that supports fingerprint authentication
-
Enabled fingerprint authentication
-
Set a passcode
Note
Your system administrator can choose to disable fingerprint authentication, in which case you don't see the Enable Fingerprint Authentication option on your device. Also, if you turn off your passcode, fingerprint authentication is automatically disabled for the SAP Mobile Cards application.
If fingerprint authentication fails, you have two options:
- Try Again – Allows you to reattempt fingerprint authentication.
- Enter Passcode – Allows you to enter the passcode to unlock the application.
Customize Notifications¶
When you're within range of an address that corresponds to a card, or when a future date and time on a card is reached, notifications are sent to your Android phone.

-
Location – a card contains an address. When location permissions are enabled, you receive a notification when you are within range of the address.
When a card contains both an address and a timestamp, and you are within range of the address on the date and at the time specified in the timestamp, you receive a notification for each.

Android Shake Gesture¶
Shake your Android phone or tap on the GPS icon to see time- or location-relevant cards, or both, in the SAP Mobile Cards card deck.
The shake-gesture feature detects a timestamp (date and time), an address (location), or both, on cards in a card deck. When location permissions are enabled, and you're within range of an address that corresponds to one found on a card in the deck, the relevant card is shown when you shake your mobile device. No location-specific cards are shown if location permissions are disabled.
If a card contains a timestamp that's within the same day that you shake your mobile device or tap on the GPS icon, that is, by 11:59 PM, the relevant card is shown. For timestamps, no permissions have to be enabled for the relevant cards to be shown.
If a card contains both a corresponding address and a relevant timestamp and location permissions are disabled, the card appears based only on the timestamp. If there are no relevant cards when you shake your mobile device, no cards appear.
