Cash Advance - Overview

Use the Cash Advance feature to request cash from your company before going on a trip or incurring an expense.

Your company may or may not use the Cash Advance feature. Verify with your company's SAP Concur administrator.

Here are the typical steps in the Cash Advance process. Click the links below to see the details of each step shown here.

  1. Prepare and submit a cash advance request.
  2. Once submitted, the request is routed to your cash advance approver.
  3. If your approver approves your request, then it is sent to a Cash Advance administrator.
  4. If the Cash Advance administrator approves your request, then based on your company's process of distributing funds, the funds are given to you.

Eventually (as dictated by your company's policy) you must prepare an expense report to offset the cash advance or return the cash advance.

      • You can choose to have an email sent to you when the cash advance status changes.

      • Cash advances may also be available through your company charge card or ATM card. If this is the case, then the above steps would not be applicable. If you do not know which type of cash advance your company uses, contact your company's SAP Concur administrator.

      • If the company uses Concur Request and users are allowed to create cash advances requests, then request information may appear in Expense. Check with your company's SAP Concur administrator.

      • Depending on your configuration, you may be able to recall a submitted cash advance.

Choose Your Cash Advance Approver

The advance approver may or may not be the same as the expense report approver. If your company allows it, you may be able to choose your own cash advance approver. To choose your cash advance approver:

  1. Click Profile > Profile Settings > Expense Approvers (left menu). The Expense Approvers page appears.
  2. On the Expense Approvers page, select the appropriate cash advance approver from the Default approver for your cash advance requests field.
