Customizing Synchronization

Use

The synchronization of master data-related Customizing data between the Customizing tables of the source and target objects reduces the number of synchronization errors that can occur during a synchronization run. With this function you can let the system carry out synchronization by means of synchronization reports.

Prerequisites

Ensure the following before you start a report of the Customizing synchronization.

  • You want to let the system carry out the mapping.

    Caution Caution

    You must carry out the Customizing synchronization manually if you do not require a one-to-one mapping of the Customizing data between source and target object.

  • The mapping table between source and target object is initial.

  • The Customizing table of the target object is initial.

  • The Customizing table of the source object is initial.

Features

The system carries out the Customizing synchronization using synchronization reports. In the reports you can define for which attributes (for example, legal form) of the source object Customizing data should be synchronized.

Different concepts have been developed for Customizing synchronization in the case of the Customer/Vendor Integration and the Material/Service Integration, because of the different requirements the business objects should fulfill.

Customer/Vendor Integration

During the Customizing synchronization, the system transfers the entries in the Customizing table of the source object one-to-one into the Customizing table of the target object, and writes the relevant mapping information between source and target object into the assigned mapping table at the same time.

At the beginning of the Customizing synchronization, the system checks whether the Customizing table of the target object and the mapping table are empty between source and target object. If the check shows that the tables already contain data, the system does not carry out Customizing synchronization.

Caution Caution

This results in the system not being able to carry out any further Customizing synchronization after Customizing data has been synchronized. If you have made changes subsequently in Customizing of the source or target object, you must enter these changes manually in the corresponding Customizing and mapping tables. You can recognize if Customizing synchronization has been carried out for an attribute by the fact that you can no longer select the attribute in the report selection screen.

Material/Service Integration

The Customizing synchronization of the Material/Service Integration includes the synchronization of the data for converting the product ID, and the synchronization of the control of the messages by the user. The system compares the Customizing tables of the source object with those of the target objectNo mapping tables are filled. You can carry out this synchronization more than once.

If you have carried out changes in the source tables of this data, you must restart the report to synchronize these changes with the data of the target tables. The system cannot start the report automatically.

Activities

  1. Select a synchronization report in the work area Customizing Synchronization.

  2. Select the required attributes and, if necessary, the synchronization direction in the selection screen of the report.

  3. Start the report.
