Monitoring Installation and Setup
Use
The following monitoring methods are available for PCo:
-
Local monitoring
The PCo Management Console is the main user interface for using SAP Plant Connectivity. In itself, this console can be regarded as a monitoring application for all the processes that you set up in PCo. You can find the PC Management Console in the Windows Start Menu under . The PCo Management Console can also be started by a user with no administrator privileges. It runs in display mode then, but still allows access to logs and configuration details.
-
Central monitoring
You can use the Remote Client to monitor multiple PCo installations and their agent instances remotely. This component can be found under
You can set up active monitoring so that you automatically receive a notification about any critical conditions. The Active Monitor component, which you can select during PCo installation, supports you in monitoring agent instances. You can use active monitoring in connection with SAP MII. In productive operation, you can then automatically monitor agent instances so that outages in the communication connections are reported actively and immediately. You will receive an e-mail from SAP MII if a PCo instance cannot be reached or an agent instance changes its status to interrupted. Such a change in status always occurs if the agent loses its connection to the data source, for example.
If you want to be actively informed about certain critical events that are logged by agent instances you have to set up active monitoring as described in the following SAP note: 2869474
