Creating Broadcast Messages

You create messages in the New Broadcast Message wizard, by defining the message contents and properties.

Procedure

  1. In the Broadcast Message editor, choose New.
    The New Broadcast Message wizard opens.
  2. In the Broadcast Message Properties step, enter values for the required parameters.
  3. In the Create Broadcast Message step, do the following:
    • Set the priority of the message. When more than one message is displayed, messages with a high priority are always displayed at the top of the list of messages.
    • Enter the message text.
      You can include hyperlinks in the message text. Pay attention to the following:
      • Enter hyperlinks using HTML link syntax, for example <a href=”location”>text</a>.
      • When linking to a location outside the portal, enter the full location including the protocol, for example, http://www.<address>.com
    • Set the timeframe during which the message will be broadcast to portal users.
  4. In the Select Recipients step, assign roles and groups to the message to define which portal users will recieve the message.
  5. Complete the wizard.

Results

The new message is added to the Broadcast Message Overview table. If the defined timeframe is current, the message is broadcast to the relevant portal users.
