Using the PAR Migration Tool

Context

In SAP NetWeaver 7.3 and higher, PAR (Portal Application Archive) files are no longer supported. When upgrading portal applications from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 to the current version, you need to migrate any PAR files to WAR files packaged in EAR files.

The PAR Migration Tool is a wizard that enables you to migrate standalone PAR files, as well as PAR files contained in SDA or SCA files, to the supported file formats. You can migrate multiple applications at once.

The PAR Migration Tool provides the following options for selecting the files to migrate:

  • Upload all the files from a folder on the local server

  • Browse for files and upload them one by one

  • Upload files from imported transport packages

The import process cannot import PAR files, or SDA and SCA files containing PAR files, because PAR files are no longer supported. When importing a transport package, the files that cannot be imported are saved to the local file system. The PAR Migration Tool wizard enables you to view these files, so that you can select them and migrate them to a supported format.

After migrating the selected files, you can download them.
