Unlocking Objects

System administrators use the Object Locking interface to see which objects are currently locked and to unlock locked objects.

Context

You can release the locks on locked objects at any time, even if the life span and protection span have not expired. For more information about the life span and protection span of locked objects, see Setting the Time Span for Object Locking.

Procedure

  1. Go to Start of the navigation pathSystem Administration Next navigation step Monitoring Next navigation step Portal Next navigation step Object LockingEnd of the navigation path.
    A list of the currently locked objects is displayed. The following information is displayed for each lock entry:

    Information

    Description

    Object Type

    The portal object type, for example, a role or iView

    Object ID

    The ID of the object

    Location

    The path of the object in the Portal Catalog

    If the object is locked at the root of the Portal Catalog, the Location column is empty.

    Locked By

    The user ID of the user that is locking the object

    Remaining Life Time (sec)

    The amount of time remaining until the locked object is automatically released

    Remaining Protection Time (sec)

    The amount of time remaining until other users can take over the object

    Session ID

    The session ID for each launched browser

    Description

    A description of the object, where available

  2. Select options in the Search Criteria dropdown list to sort the lock entries by either user ID or location.
  3. Select the locked object and choose Unlock.
