Comparing Term Lists with SAPterm Contents

Use this function to upload a list of terms to SAPterm and determine whether they already exist in the terminology database.

Prerequisites

The list to be uploaded must be formatted as follows.
  • Plain text (file format TXT)

  • No hidden or invisible characters or metadata tags

  • Each term in the list is on its own individual line; no lines are blank

  • The terms use the correct characters, capitalization, spacing, and punctuation

Procedure

  1. In the initial SAPterm screen choose Start of the navigation pathUtilities Next navigation step Compare Next navigation step List of Terms with SAPtermEnd of the navigation path.
  2. Set the relevant parameters in the Compare Term List with SAPterm Content screen. Compare terms across the entire database or in selected subject fields. Select Unicode if the language of the terms uses characters other than ASCII. Select Result Display to see a list of results in the system. If this is not selected the function creates a list in TXT format for download instead.
  3. Choose Execute to start the function. The Evaluation Results screen appears with the number of successful matches and those terms highlighted and selected in the list. Unsuccessful matches are not highlighted and not selected. Double-click on matches, or select them and choose Display, to see the corresponding term entries in SAPterm.
  4. Use the standard list viewer functions to select or deselect the items, or to invert the selection as required, as well as to sort and download the term comparison results. Choose Delete Selected Entries to remove items from the term comparison results display. This does not delete the terminology entries in SAPterm.
