Creating a List of Terms for Quality Checks

Prerequisites

The term quality check is a randomly generated list of terms to be reviewed as part of quality control.

You are the coordinator for a specific translation project that has already been defined as such in SAPterm.

Context

If your company is reliant on the support of external translation agencies for translating terms in your SAPterm database, then there may come a time when you would like to check the quality of those terms that have been translated. In order to do this, you can generate a random set of terms on an agency-by-agency basis that can then be checked by a native speaker of the relevant language for quality control purposes.

Procedure

  1. Call transaction STERM and choose Start of the navigation pathUtilities Next navigation step Create Next navigation step Term Q-CheckEnd of the navigation path.
  2. Enter the source and target languages for which you would like to perform the quality check.
  3. Enter the relevant start and end dates for the period that you would like to check.
  4. In the Agency field, select the code for the translation agency for which you want to perform the quality check.
  5. Under the Project groupbox, select the number of the relevant translation project.
  6. Choose Execute.

Results

The system displays a random list of up to 100 terms for checking by a native speaker of the relevant language. The list displays the component, term, and the translation and offers a series of checkboxes that represent different quality criteria. If the proportion of failed terms exceeds 5%, the translation agency fails the quality check.
