Define SAPterm Maintenance System

Purpose

Connect to the central instance of SAPterm in a shared system landscape.

The function allows a SAPterm system to designate another SAPterm terminology database as the central home or maintenance system. This supports providing users with additional sets of subject field component, release, and other term entry parameters from other systems, usable via transaction STERM_EXTERNAL from the maintenance system.

The maintenance system is by default the SAPterm instance’s own system unless otherwise specified.

Prerequisites

The function is restricted to users with SAPterm administrator authorization.

The target system allows remote function callup (RFC) from the maintenance system, which requires both systems to already be connected via RFC.

Procedure

  1. In the initial SAPterm screen, choose Start of the navigation pathAdministration Next navigation step Global Settings Next navigation step System Settings Next navigation step Maintenance SystemEnd of the navigation path. The Query for RFC Connection Data screen appears.

  2. Use the SAPterm Home System selection options to find the maintenance system address. Then choose Continue to confirm the connection (or choose Cancel to interrupt the procedure).

    The initial SAPterm screen appears unchanged. SAPterm administration functions in the maintenance system can now access the SAPterm target system environment as if logged on directly in that system.
