Remotely Changing SAPterm Settings

Purpose

Make or update the administration settings of another instance of SAPterm in a shared system landscape.

This provides users with additional sets of subject field component, release, and other term entry parameters from other systems, usable via transaction STERM_EXTERNAL, while storing all term entries in a central SAPterm terminology database in a single home maintenance system.

Prerequisites

The function is restricted to users with SAPterm administrator authorization.

The target system allows remote function callup (RFC) from the maintenance system starting the function, which requires both systems to already be connected via RFC.

Procedure

  1. In the initial SAPterm screen, choose Start of the navigation pathAdministration Next navigation step Global Settings Next navigation step System Settings Next navigation step Change System EnvironmentEnd of the navigation path. The Change SYSTEM-ID Parameter screen appears.

  2. The From System value indicates the current SAPterm system in use. Change the environment by entering the To System value and choosing Continue (or choose Cancel to interrupt the procedure).

    The initial SAPterm screen appears unchanged. The user can access all SAPterm administration functions as if logged on directly in the system of the other SAPterm instance. Term search, term editing, and other SAPterm functions continue to affect only the maintenance system database contents.

    Executing another transaction will terminate the connection and the system environment reverts to that of the original system.
