Activating and Deactivating SAPterm Subject Field Components

SAPterm administrators use this function to permit and block subject fields for creating term entries.

Prerequisites

The subject fields exist in the SAPterm metadata tables STERM_ADDC and STERM_ADDT.

The function is restricted to users with SAPterm administrator authorization.

Procedure

  1. In the initial SAPterm screen choose Start of the navigation pathAdministration Next navigation step Global Settings Next navigation step Components Next navigation step AdministerEnd of the navigation path.

  2. Find the subject field in the Maintain Component Hierarchy Terminology screen. Choose Expand Subtree and Collapse Subtree to see or hide subject fields as necessary. Subject fields currently available in SAPterm are highlighted.

  3. Choose the relevant action.
    • Activation: Place the cursor on a non-highlighted subject field and choose Choose Entry; the impending subject field activation will be highlighted in a status color. Then choose Save Settings; the subject field is highlighted as active.

    • Deactivation: Place the cursor on a highlighted subject field and choose Delete Entry; the impending subject field deactivation will be highlighted in a warning color. Then choose Save Settings; the deactivation removes all highlighting.

    Choose Continue to leave the screen. Choose Cancel at any point before Save Settings to abandon changes and leave the screen.

    The set of changed subject fields is immediately available in SAPterm. Activated subject fields can be used for term entries; deactivated fields are no longer available.

An alternative subject field deactivation function is available by choosing Start of the navigation pathAdministration Next navigation step Global Settings Next navigation step Components Next navigation step DeleteEnd of the navigation path. Enter the Internal Component Key or the short ID of the subject field Component and choose Execute to deactivate the subject field.
