Additional Status Information Displayed (New)

Start of the navigation pathCurrent Status Next navigation step OverviewEnd of the navigation path now shows the following information:

  • Database Memory and CPU

    Here, you can see the memory used relative to the allocated memory, and the actual CPU usage and available CPUs. Choose either option to go to the Services overview.

  • Database Disk Usage

    Choose either option to go to the Disks overview.

Landscape Section (New)

To check that your system is running and the status of its hosts and processes, choose Start of the navigation pathCurrent Status Next navigation step LandscapeEnd of the navigation path.

Display Statement String (New)

You can display a complete statement, with its structure.

In DBA Cockpit, choose Start of the navigation pathCurrent Status Next navigation step Threads Next navigation step Display Statement StringEnd of the navigation path. The Explain function displays the access strategy and the execution plan. This information can be displayed as a graphic.

Trace Configuration (New)

On the Trace Configuration screen, you can see the status, and configure the traces. If you have authorization, you can change the options for each trace type. If a user trace exists, the options User Trace and Delete User Trace are available. Otherwise these options are grayed out.

To see the output of the database trace, go to Start of the navigation pathDiagnostics Next navigation step Database TraceEnd of the navigation path.

To see the output of the SQLDBC trace, go to Start of the navigation pathDiagnostics Next navigation step SQLDBC TraceEnd of the navigation path.

Analyzing Expensive Statements (New)

In DBA Cockpit, choose Start of the navigation pathPerformance Next navigation step Expensive StatementsEnd of the navigation path. New functionality is available to explain, explain (graphically), and trace the execution of SQL statements.

SQL Plan Cache (New)

In DBA Cockpit, choose Start of the navigation pathPerformance Next navigation step SQL Plan CacheEnd of the navigation path.

Tables/Views (Changed)

In DBA Cockpit, choose Start of the navigation pathDiagnostics Next navigation step Tables/ViewsEnd of the navigation path. DBA Cockpit displays the estimated maximum size in memory for a table and its size on disk.

Merged Diagnosis Files (New)

In DBA Cockpit, choose Start of the navigation pathDiagnostics Next navigation step Merged Diagnosis FilesEnd of the navigation path. You can merge trace and log files into one file. This allows you, for example, to search for traces from a specific date.

Changes to the User Interface

The functions have been regrouped to improve logical consistency. So, several familiar functions are now to be found in different locations:

  • The Disks section has been merged with the Volumes section. Go to Start of the navigation pathConfiguration Next navigation step VolumesEnd of the navigation path.

  • The Trace Configuration section, which was previously in Current Status, can now be found in the Configuration section.

  • Query Cache can now be found in Start of the navigation pathPerformance Next navigation step SQL Plan CacheEnd of the navigation path

Execution Trace (New)

The new Execution Trace is similar to the Explain function. Whereas with Explain, the statement is not executed, with Execution Trace, the statement is really executed and analyzed at the same time. The trace can be downloaded.

You can display an overview of all the partitions for a particular table. It is now possible to see which partitions a table is stored on.

You can now display all the database procedures. You can search or drill down.

In the DBA Planning Calendar it is now possible to schedule data backups with the Backint for SAP HANA interface.

Displaying the SAP HANA License Key (New)

Additional System Information (New)

Choose Start of the navigation pathSystem Information Next navigation step OthersEnd of the navigation path to view the following system information: Component memory usage, connection attempts and status, database information, HANA usage, lock waiting history, merge statistics, open transactions, overall workload, schema size of loaded tables, session context, sessions, size of tables on disk, used memory by tables, and column tables memory usage.
