DB Connect (enhanced)
DB connect is used for connecting databases and/or database schemas to the BW as data sources for Open ODS views. DB connect has been enhanced.
In addition to the previous option of creating a DB connect source system as SAP default connection for another database connection, you can now also create a DB connect source system in the following cases:
- For accessing the data of a specific database schema of the SAP default connection
- For accessing the data of a specific schema of another, external database that provides data sources using SAP HANA Smart Data Access
This option is available only if the BW is running on a SAP HANA database.
In this extension of DB connect, local system information such as connection information for the database or the database schema is relocated from the Open ODS view to the source system. This is advantageous during the transport of Open ODS views, for example.
The various possibilities for defining a connection using DB connect are available as options for the connection type in the DB connect source system. However, you can also create an Open ODS view without having created a DB connect source system first. You enter all relevant source information, that the BW system uses for generating the DB connect source system, when creating the Open ODS view.
