Read Access Logging (Changed)

The following changes were made to Read Access Logging:

  • Using Read Access Logging Monitor, you can now view logs from other clients, even from other systems.

Instead of needing to log on to SRALMANAGER in each client to view the logs, you can view them using one system.

In Read Access Logging Monitor, there are now two types of databases that you can select as the Data Source:

    • Raw Database

Only contains the Read Access Logging data of the current client.

    • Expanded Database (default)

Can contain the Read Access Logging data of the current client as well as other clients.

You use the SRAL_REPLICATION program to import logs from the Raw Database of the current client and from other systems into the Expanded Database. Typically you would schedule SRAL_REPLICATION to run as a background job.

  • The following Dynpro UI elements can now be logged:

    • Window titles
    • Transaction codes
    • okCode (for example, in popup confirmations)
    • T100 messages

See Dynpro Screen Elements that Can Be Logged

  • New authorization object: SAP_BC_RAL_CONFIGURATOR.

This role allows users to access and change the RAL configuration, but it prohibits access to the read access log.

See Roles and Authorizations for Read Access Logging

  • New transaction code: SRALCONFIG.

Displays the Administration tab only in Read Access Logging Manager.

See Transaction Codes in Read Access Logging

  • Transporting configuration changes

The Enabling in client setting and User exclusion list can be changed in production clients without the changes needing to be saved in a transport request. This requires specific settings in SCC4.

See Transporting Read Access Logging Data

Automatic transports are also now possible. This means that when saving configuration changes in RAL, a transport popup appears. You must enable the Automatic recording of changes setting in transaction SCC4.

  • Read Access Logging is now connected to the central SAP NetWeaver System Audit Log.

See Read Access Logging Entries in the Security Audit Log

  • Field Direction is now called Field Type in the RAL configuration (signifies whether the field is an input field or an output (display) field).
