Read Access Logging (New)

Definition

You can now log read access to data through ABAP Web services. Logging read access to sensitive data can be necessary to fulfill legal requirements or the corporate requirements of your own company or an external company. Typical purposes of Read Access Logging are data security, data privacy, and data classification. The log enables you to answer the question, who accessed which sensitive data and when.

Read Access Logging is rule-based. It provides the following configuration options:

• The elements of a request, response, and fault message that need to be logged

• Whether or not the value of the field that was accessed is logged

• Conditions for Read Access Logging to take effect

• Purposes of Read Access Logging

• Archiving rules for the log

• A user exclusion list to exclude users from Read Access Logging
