PMD Transport Workbench: Copy Tab Page
You use the functions on the “Copy” tab page in the following cases:
You have received a sample document category and wish to use it to create your own document category.
You wish to develop a new document category and wish to use an existing document as a template, as the structure and form are very similar.
You are working on a client on which you can edit PMD structures and source code. You are in a client on which the new document category should be created, the target client. The source document category can be on any client of your system.
The tab page contains input fields for data concerning the source, the target and the version number of the document category as well as the
Copy function key
(Copy <Object>
).
Enter the data on the source document category.
Select the client and institution of the document category which you wish to copy.
Select the document category to be copied and the version. In case of several versions of a document category each version is displayed in the F4 input help on a separate row.
Enter the data on the target document category.
The target client is specified. Choose the target institution.
The new document category requires a document type if this should be changed or the document type of the source object is not available at the destination.
Determine a name for your new document category.
You select Copy.
A dialog opens where you can specify the copy options. In addition to the abstract and definite design, here you can determine whether you wish to determine the names for the DDIC objects to be generated and whether you wish to copy user exits including source text.
Choose Continue
.
Enter DDIC Objects: If you have opted for manual naming of DDIC objects, you must enter the name for the corresponding types in the subsequent dialog.
Caution
Refer to the namespace conventions. Incorrect and non-permissible entries are not accepted in a subsequent check.
Choose Continue
.
Enter Names of User Exits: If you wish to copy user exits, enter the user exit name for your new document category in the table, if user exits exist in the source document category.
Choose Continue
.
Rename Definition Elements: The abstract design of the source document category is displayed. If you wish to transfer the names, select Preset
.
You can use
(Check
) to check at any time whether your entries have been accepted. Incorrect rows are flagged at the beginning of the row.
Note
Note that you must at least re-allocate the name of the master element.
Note that retaining all element names means that the same elements are used in two different document categories. After document category generation, later changes to element properties will affect all document categories, which use these elements.
You can use the Find/Replace
button to replace default character strings with others. This procedure automatically runs for all elements.
Fields which occur multiple times are colored after the second occurrence and locked for editing. Renaming the editable field transfers the new name to all other fields of the same name. If you wish to name one of these fields differently, you can use the
(Change
) button in the corresponding row to lift the edit lock.
If
(-
) is displayed behind a field, a link module exists which fills the fields in the source document. If you create new fields, they will not be filled by the link module and you must execute additional work in the source code. If you wish to transfer the fields – often there are several fields in a group - into your new document, you must refer to the notes on joint usage of elements in several document categories.
If all names have been allocated and the check does not find any errors, select Continue
.
The system displays all data you have changed once again during the copy procedure. Check the procedure.
Select Back
if you wish to cancel the copy procedure. Select Copy
to start the copy procedure.
The system displays a log on the copy procedure.
You have created a new document category. You use the corresponding functions for the further processing of the document category.
