Component documentationPatient Transport Service

The Patient Transport Service supports the internal processing of transport orders with or without patients.

Transport orders without patients are used to transport food, laundry, post, etc.

Features

Transport orders with and without patients are possible between any organizational units (OUs), such as care units, outpatient clinics, service facilities and the OR of an institution. They are coordinated by the central transport service OU.

This function manually or automatically requests transport orders with or without patients, and organizes and documents the execution of these transports for evaluation purposes. The patient transport service component offers the following possibilities:

  • In the system, the patient transport service component requests, organizes and executes transport orders and avoids time-intensive telephone calls with the dispatcher of the transport service.

  • You can manually enter transport orders on many IS-H*MED work stations.

  • Alternatively, there is also the possibility of automatically creating transport orders when appointments are scheduled. This considerably reduces your workload. Appointments can be the destination and starting point of a transport order.

  • The system will automatically calculate pick-up and target times based on stored transfer times.

  • When a patient is transferred or appointments are rescheduled, the system will independently adapt the time and location of transport orders which have already been created, but not yet executed.

  • The dispatcher of the transport service constantly receives information about transport orders, service requests and appointments which are relevant to the patient transport service. An overview permanently displays the current work status and last location of every transporter. The dispatcher distributes queued orders to the transporters using the system. An interface allows the integration of an electronic transmission system (e.g. a pager system).

  • The care unit receives an overview of all transport orders scheduled for its patients over the next few hours. If a transport order is scheduled for a patient, the care unit list will display the next pick-up and return time for each patient.

  • The dispatcher manages the transport orders to be processed and documents their processing.

  • Once the examination or treatment has been performed, the service facility personnel can report the patient's return or further transport to the dispatcher service either electronically or by telephone. Transporters are assigned by the dispatcher.

Evaluation

As well as this support, the patient transport service module also offers the possibility of evaluating all documented transport orders, e.g. by

  • Transporter

  • Transport Routes

  • Number of Transports

  • Travel Time.
