Calculate Pick-Up and Target Time/Transfer Times
Every transport order shows a pick-up and drop-off time.
Providing a target or pick-up time order is entered for the transport, the system will use the transfer time definition between the starting point and the target location stored in the master data to calculate the missing time.
For an initial transport the system will propose the target time for you – either using your manual entry or automatic order creation by selecting an appointment. The system will therefore automatically calculate the pick-up time using the transfer times definition.
For a return or further transport the system will propose the pick-up time. The system will therefore automatically calculate the target time using the transfer times definition.
From the SAP Easy Access screen under the system administrator enters the transfer times between the organizational units (OUs) or between building units or a combination of OU and building unit.
To avoid extensive master data entry, the system will search for a suitable transfer time using the following multi-level process. The system will first search for the starting point and will then abstract the destination point until it finds a transfer time:
Determine transfer time at building unit level
Determine transfer time at OU level
Determine transport time at department level
Determine transfer time without taking starting OU into account
In order to avoid the direction-dependent entry of transfer times, the system will search in both directions.
If the system cannot determine a transfer time using this method, it will assume it to be 0 minutes.
