The LaunchPad is used as an overview tree for navigation in the Clinical Work Station.

You use the LaunchPad to call worklists or functions. These are then shown and processed on the right of the screen.

Structure

Work Environment

You can set different work environments for different users and user groups (roles).

Example Example

Example 1:

The work environment of a nurse in a specific care unit comprises the following views: occupancy list, arrivals list, departures list all for this care unit.

Example 2:

More than one work environment can be assigned to a physician responsible for several care units in different departments:

  • Work environment with patient lists for internal medicine care units

  • Work environment with patient lists for cardiac care units

Example 3:

If you use i.s.h.med, views of medical documents can be assigned to a physician.

End of the example.
Functions

Under Functions, you find user-specific configured/selected favorites and the user menu. You can add functions that are called from the user menu to your list of favorites by choosing Start of the navigation path System Next navigation step User Profile Next navigation step Expand Favorites End of the navigation path.

Application Options

The Clinical Work Station provides a wide range of application and processing options that you can use, e.g. with the Drag&Drop and Drag&Relate functions.

The respective views depend on the system administrator and user-specific settings. The following examples offer an insight into the use of the functions.

  • Call View in Work Environment

You can call a view in the work environment by clicking on the view pushbutton. This view remains selected until you call a different one.

  • Split Right Screen Area of Main Display Window

You can split the right screen area, for example, by switching on the arrivals list for the occupancy list.

  • Drag&Drop:

The Clinical Work Station supports Drag Drop for a large number of input options, for example:

    • Assign bed within the occupancy list:

You can select a patient from the occupancy list and use Drag&Drop to assign him to an empty bed.

    • Assign bed from the arrivals list:

Select a patient in the arrivals list and use Drag Drop to assign him to an empty bed in the occupancy list.

    • Assign room:

You select a patient in the arrivals list and use Drag Drop to assign him to an empty room in the occupancy list and assign a bed at a later stage.

  • Drag&Relate:

Select a patient in the occupancy list and use Drag&Relate to transfer him (to the pushbutton for the Create Transfer transaction in the user menu or favorites).

  • Call Transaction by Clicking in the LaunchPad

As a rule you can use Drag&Relate or a click a transaction in the user menu or favorites to use all transactions that can process data in the list.

    Example Example

Select several patients in the occupancy list, and click on the Create absence transaction (in the user menu or favorites). Note that the system administrator may change the transaction names.

    End of the example.
  • Call a function from the menu bar in the right-hand screen area

You select a patient and select the desired function in the function bar.

    Note Note

If you select more than one patient and call a function that can only be carried out for one patient, the system will display a message requesting that you select one patient only.

If you call transactions from IS-H or i.s.h.med, for example using Drag&Relate, you will branch to the next screen of this transaction. The system will then execute the function for the selected patient(s).

    End of the note.
  • Calling functions directly from the main display window

In some fields you can branch directly to a transaction by clicking on the field. The system will then execute the function for the selected patient(s). This option is available in the following fields, for example:

    • Diagnosis: This brings you into the diagnosis maintenance transaction

    • Medical Record Exists: This brings you into the medical record maintenance transaction

    • Risk Information: This brings you into the information maintenance transaction

  • Navigation to external Internet pages

From the LaunchPad, you can navigate to external Web pages via the Internet.

The system administrator makes the settings in the user menus.

System Behavior with Open or Closed Folders

When you choose the Back (Back) or the icon with the quick info text Exit or Cancel (Cancel), the system saves the opened/closed status of each work environment.

The next time you use the Clinical Work Station, the folders you left open are automatically opened and the folders you left closed remain closed.
