The Surgery system contains a catalog of operative events and anesthetic course observations. You must make entries in this catalog when you enter complications and anesthetic observations. Using an assignment table, you can group complications into areas, as with diagnoses. This means that you can perform a hierarchical search.

You maintain the complications by choosing Start of the navigation path Clinical System Next navigation step Basic Clinical Data Next navigation step Surgery System Next navigation step Organizational Unit Next navigation step Complications End of the navigation path. Here, you can maintain the individual complications and the areas to which you wish to group complications. You must fill in the following fields:

  • Inst

    Enter the institution here.

  • Key

    In this field, you must enter the complication or anesthetic observation code. You must make sure that the anesthetic observations code corresponds to the DGAI catalog, since you cannot transfer quality assurance data correctly otherwise.

  • S

    The language of the entry, e.g. EN for English.

  • Description

    In this field, the complication or anesthetic observation is described in short text form.

  • B

    This checkbox must be marked if this is an area for complications.

    You can assign several complications to one area, and any one complication to several areas. To maintain these assignments, choose Start of the navigation path Clinical System Next navigation step Basic Clinical Data Next navigation step Surgery System Next navigation step Organizational Unit Next navigation step Complication – Complication Assignment End of the navigation path. You must maintain the following fields when you are assigning complications to complication areas:

  • Inst

    Enter the institution here.

  • Key (1st column)

    The key of the higher level complication area.

  • Key (2nd column)

    The key of the subordinate complication. This can also be a complication area.

  • S

    The language of the entry, e.g. EN for English.

    Example Example

    If you wish to set up an area for cardiovascular complications, and the complication Arrhythmia, you must make the following entries:
