Drug Header Data

The drug header data contains information which is always displayed during the entry or modification of the master data of a drug, regardless of the tab page.

Structure

The drug header data contains, for example, the following drug information:

Drug Name

The name of a drug must be unique within a drug catalog.
Drug Description
Generic Name
Drug Category

You should note that you can only change the drug category into another drug category if both categories have the same type of drug category.

Example
You can only change the drug category of a standard drug ("Standard" drug category) into the drug category for an infusion, if you define the infusion as a standard drug ("IV Standard" drug category with a value of "3" as the drug category type).

Furthermore the Use and Defaults group box is available where you can determine which purpose this drug can be used for.

Note Note

The "Search Only" value is only available if the drug has subordinate drugs assigned, i.e. not for drugs of the lowest drug level (brand drugs with package information).

Additionally you can select the purpose for which the drug should be used as standard in the medication order or in the documentation of medication events. The system uses this drug if a superordinate drug (according to the drug hierarchy) is selected, for example, which may not be used in the medication event (e.g. administration documentation).

Note Note

You should note that you cannot set this Purpose, Default indicator for a drug, if the drug is not used or is a drug of the first drug level (generic level).
