You can resume one or more valid inactive orders. This function is used to resume suspended orders, not for the activation from an order confirmation point of view.

The system resets the orders to the internal status "Active".

The system calls event generation and decides whether it can generate further events in the background (for example depending on the event generation horizon in the drug master data).

If you only resume the order, you can also define a new end time for the order. The system provides the option of extending the order duration by the duration of the suspension.

Example Example

The order for a patient is suspended due to a surgery. The duration for which the patient takes the drug therefore also changes. When the order is resumed the ordering employee can extend the order so that the duration for which the patient takes the drug corresponds to the original order, for example, for 3 months.

This function is available in views of the Medication Orders View Type in the clinical work station.

Note Note

You can also determine a future date for the suspension. In this case the system will create an order activity. By scheduling the report RN1ME_OAPROC as a job, you can execute this order activity and therefore set the status of the order to "Active" at the planned time.

Note that the system will generate the order events which lie after the planned time for suspension, when creating the order activity, providing this time falls within the event generation horizon.

Procedure

  1. In a view of the Medication Orders view type in the clinical work station, select one or more orders and choose Resume Order (Resume Order).

    Alternatively you can call this function in the order dialog.

    Note Note

    If you select this function the system creates a new flow rate of the "rate change" or "continual" type for the suspended continual infusions or nutritional solution orders and single administration, with the last flow rate before the suspension and activates the order. The order is then resumed at the specified time.

    If the last administered event of an intermittent orders is not removed and its volume has not yet been completed administered, you must manually create the necessary rates for updating the event.

    The system displays the Resume Order dialog box.

  2. You enter an employee responsible and choose Continue (Continue) to resume the orders.

    The system presets the resumption time with the current suspension time plus one (1) minute. Note that you cannot enter a time which lies before the suspension of the order.

    You return to the clinical work station.
