Edit Base Items

You can separately edit base items using the base item editor (transaction N2BASEITEM). Some editing functions are also integrated in the definition tools of the components in use, for example, in template management of the documentation work station and in the definition of treatment pathways.

The following functions are possible at other locations, but not in the base item editor. Some are provided by the components in use.

Activities

The institution is a required entry for the access to editing.

Activities for Accessing Editing:

Function	Procedure
Create Base Item	Use input help to enter the base item type. Enter a name. Choose Create.
Display Base Item	Use input help to enter the name of base item. The system displays the base items grouped by base item type.
Change Base Item	Use input help to enter the name of base item. The base item type and the name contain the selected value. Choose Change.
Copy Base Item	Use the input help to enter the name of the template for the new base item. The base item type and the name contain the selected value. Choose Copy Template. The Copy Base Item screen appears. Enter the name of the new base item in Target and choose (Continue). Enter further data on the base item and save.

Activities for Editing a Base Item:

Function	Procedure
Check Base Item - Only available in change mode -	Choose (Check).
Activate Base Item - Only available for base items with status Inactive-	Choose (Active). Following the check the system sets the status to Active and saves the base item.
Deactivate Base Item - Only available for base items with status Active-	Choose (Deactivate). If the system cannot find a user, it sets the status of the base item to Inactive and saves the base item. If the system finds users, it warns the end user that he or she is deactivating a base item that still has users.
Print Base Item	Choose Base Item Print . The system creates a printout with all base item data. Some base item types do not support this function. You can find more information in the documentation for the respective base item type.
Display Where-Used List	Choose (Where Used List). The Search Area dialog appears. Set the indicator for the desired search area and choose Continue. You access the Where Used List screen with the users of the base item depending on the search area.
Transport Base Item You can transport base items to another client or into another system You should note that base items in Inactive status are not executed on productive clients.	A) With correction connection Choose Save. Depending on the current client setting, the base item is added to a transport request. The system checks the changeability of the object and the client setting. The system prompts you to select a transport request. Enter a transport request and choose (Continue). B) Without correction connection Choose Base Item Transport . The system prompts you to select a transport request. Enter a transport request and choose (Continue). You receive a transport request with the base item. Check whether you must transport other system objects, e.g. a BAdI implementation. Release the transport request.
Set Deletion Indicator If you want to delete a base item, no more users may exist. You can check this using the where used list.	Choose Base Item Delete . You access the Set Deletion Indicator dialog to confirm the deletion indicator. Confirm the delete operation. The system sets a deletion indicator and saves the base item.
Delete Base Item	Exit the base item editor. Run program RN2BASEITEMDELETE again. You make the necessary entries. Set the Delete Data indicator and choose (Execute). The system creates a log of changes to the dataset.
