In the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) process, the refurbishment of repairable and rotable components is vitally important for maintenance companies. MRO departments can use refurbishment orders to trigger the repair of these components.

Implementation Considerations

To use the refurbishment order functions in the MRO process, you must activate the business functions:

  • Refurbishment and Subcontracting (LOG_EAM_ROTSUB)

  • Refurbishment and Subcontracting 2 (LOG_EAM_ROTSUB_2)

  • Serial Numbers in Purchasing (LOG_EAM_SERNO)

Features

  • Stock determination in PM/CS orders to withdraw material for goods issue and stock transfer.

  • Additional movement types to support the two-step transfer of rotables.

  • Support of customers as a sold-to party by means of a partner function and partner tab page in the refurbishment order.

  • Conversion of planned orders into refurbishment orders from the MRP list or the stock/requirements list for rotable or repairable components.

  • Assignment of one or more notifications to a refurbishment order, as well as assignment of a refurbishment order to one or more notifications in cases where the material number is the same.

  • Additional fields in refurbishment orders to enable:

    • Visibility of work in progress by means of a field showing the quantity of rotable parts still undergoing the refurbishment process. Note, that this is only supported by movement types 313 and 315 for two-step stock transfer.

    • Assignment of serial numbers and equipment to refurbishment orders.

  • Support of the material upgrade and exchange process by means of a material number change from within the goods receipt for the refurbishment order, including possibility to create a new material from within the goods receipt as well as a check of the new material using the serial number profile.

  • Support of the following special stock types for refurbishment orders:

    • Sales order stock (special stock indicator E)

    • Project stock (special stock indicator Q)

  • You can use subcontracting operations within a refurbishment order.

Constraints

The following constraints must be taken into consideration. For this business function, the following rotables functions are NOT available:

  • Customer stock

  • Integration with MPN

  • Component Maintenance Cockpit

  • Rotable order code

  • Additional movement types covering special stock and additional requirements, such as two-step stock transfers can only be used in the refurbishment order.
