Budget Period in the US Federal Government Solution

You can use the budget period if your agency uses the Budget Control System (BCS) tool for its budgeting. The budget period is not available for use with Former Budgeting.

You first need to create the budget period(s) you want to use and assign them to one or more funds as required. You do this as described in Creating and Assigning the Budget Period.

• The budget period is used mainly in reporting. All reports that use the fund now also use the budget period as either a selection option or output parameter.

• The US Federal Report Writer libraries 4F1, 4F2, 4FB and 4FG include the budget period as a characteristic.
