 Simulating Succession Planning

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Human resources Next navigation step Personnel management Next navigation step Personnel development Next navigation step Planning Next navigation step Succession. End of the navigation path

  2. The Succession Planning screen appears.

    You can perform the simulation for all the object types available. Even if you select an object type other than Position , only positions will be evaluated - with the exception of the first entry.

  3. If necessary, change the object type.

  4. Enter the object name or the object ID in the corresponding field.

  5. If necessary, change the key date for planning.

  6. Select the planning criteria you want to include.

  7. The criterion Exclude dislikes is really only useful if used in conjunction with another planning criterion.

    You can use the planning criterion Additional career independently of the criterion Include career .

  8. If applicable, enter a career of your choice in the Additional career field.

  9. Choose Enter.

  10. Choose Start of the navigation path Planning Next navigation step Perform simulation. End of the navigation path

  11. The Succession Planning screen appears.

    A person is proposed for each position that is to be filled. The suitability of this person and the planning criteria they fulfill are also displayed.

    You might notice the following in the list of potential successors:

    If the position that is the point of departure for the simulation is still staffed, and if the holder of this position is considered by the system to be most suitable for the position, the position in question is displayed twice at the start of the list – once with its current holder, and once with the second best potential successor. The rest of the simulation continues by staffing the position with the second best successor.

  12. To toggle between the suitability ranges and the suitability percentage, choose Start of the navigation path View Next navigation step Suitability % on. End of the navigation path

  13. You can save the simulation of succession to file and/or print it out.

  • To save to file, choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Save to PC file... End of the navigation path

  • To print out, choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Print. End of the navigation path

Result

You have simulated succession planning for the object selected. You can use this simulation as a basis for further evaluations. See Evaluating a Simulation of Succession .
