 Qualifications Catalog

Use

The qualifications catalog contains all the qualifications that are of interest to an employer. The qualifications catalog forms the basis for working with the following subprofiles:

  • Qualifications

  • Potentials

  • Requirements

  • Preferences

  • Dislikes

Prerequisites

You need to have defined at least one proficiency scale before you can create qualification groups. For further information, refer to the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Personnel Development (step: Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Edit scales End of the navigation path ) .

Features

  • Qualification groups

In the qualifications catalog, you can group together qualifications into qualification groups. By specifying a generic term for each qualification group, you can classify qualifications so that those which are similar are assigned to the same group. You can also organize qualification groups hierarchically.

  • User-Defined Information

You can record more detailed information on a qualification or qualification group in normal prose style.

  • Proficiency Scales

You can assign a different proficiency scale to each qualification group.

  • Prose-Style Proficiency Texts

You can store descriptive texts for the individual proficiencies of each qualification.

  • Alternative Qualifications

You can assign one or more alternative qualifications to a qualification. In Career and Succession Planning and when you perform profile matchups, alternative qualifications are considered as being the equivalent of, or comparable with, the qualification in question. You can specify a percentage value and thus determine the extent to which an alternative qualification replaces a qualification.

  • Depreciation Meter

You can specify a depreciation meter value for qualifications. The depreciation meter enables you to simulate scenarios whereby qualifications become outdated, or are forgotten if they are not used.

If you assign a person (or another planning object) a qualification for which depreciation meter information has been defined, the proficiency of the qualification in question is changed automatically as time passes. Of course, this information is only stored for qualifications that a person does not use in everyday working life.

Example Example

If the qualification Business English Skills is not practiced or used by a person, you want the current proficiency of this qualification to be halved within three years. In this case, specify a depreciation meter value of three years for the qualification Business English Skills .

The proficiency of a qualification for which a depreciation meter value has been defined decreases exponentially.

End of the example.
  • Validity

You can specify a validity period for qualifications. This validity information enables you to show that certain qualifications expire and have to be renewed at regular intervals (licenses, for example).

The validity is calculated separately on the basis of the relationship period. If you assign a person (or another planning object) a qualification for which a validity has been defined, the qualification is automatically deleted from the person’s subprofile when the validity period expires.

  • Qualifications Overview

You can display the historical record of each qualification. This record provides information on the qualification group, scale, and validity periods.

  • Where-Used List

You can display a where-used list for each qualification group and for each qualification. This list supplies information on the objects related to the qualification (group) in question.

  • Translation

You can translate the entries in your qualifications catalog, and their corresponding descriptions. This enables you to use the catalog in different languages.

You create the qualifications catalog in Customizing for Personnel Development . Once the customized component has been implemented, you can make changes to the qualifications catalog by choosing Start of the navigation path Environment Next navigation step Current Next navigation step settings Next navigation step Edit qualifications catalog.
