 Career Plan Analysis

Purpose

In your role as manager, you examine an employee’s career plan regularly, or for a particular reason. You decide whether the career plan should be completed, modified, or remain unchanged.

You can complete the career plan when the person has successfully held all the posts planned for him or her in the career plan. If you can safely presume that the employee is not suitable for certain posts, you can modify the career plan.

Prerequisites

You must have created a career plan for the employee. One of the following requirements must also be met:

  • Career planning for the employee is desirable.

  • You need to check the career plan because the employee has been designated as the successor to a position.

Process Flow

  1. Obtain information on the employee whose career you have planned.

  2. For further information, refer to the sections entitled Displaying a Profile and Profile Evaluation .

  3. Obtain information on the employee’s career plan.

  4. Find out about any relevant company-specific conditions.

  5. On the basis of the information at your disposal, decide whether the career plan should be completed, modified, or remain unchanged.

Result

Your analysis of the career plan will result in one of the following:

  • The career plan is completed.

  • The career plan is being processed.

  • The career plan needs to be modified. In this case, you need to work through the career planning scenario again for this employee.
