Data ExtractionLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

This process flow describes how to specify the set of Human Resources-specific directory service attributes based on InfoSets and a query, and extract data from personnel administration in the SAP ERP HCM system to the SAP Identity Management system.

Prerequisites
Process
  1. Using report RPLDAP_EXTRACT_IDM you start the data extraction from the SAP ERP HCM system to the SAP Identity Management System, and on the report's selection screen, you enter the name of your query as the data source.

  2. In the SAP Web Application Server, you check the transport log for the data export from the SAP ERP HCM system to the SAP Identity Management system.

    Note

We provide the two reports SPLDAP_DISPLAY_LOG_TABLES and RPLDAP_CLEAN_UP_LOG_TABLES for this purpose.

  3. Run the report SPLDAP_DISPLAY_LOG_TABLES.

    1. If the transport log does not record any errors, you have successfully transferred the employee data to SAP Identity Management.

    2. If errors are recorded in the transport log, execute report RPLDAP_CLEAN_UP_LOG_TABLES and either delete specific entries in the transport log or delete the transport log completely.

      Note

Performing the activities in the sequence described in the report documentation will simplify the data transports for you.

You should carry out steps 2 and 3 since the system does not delete data records that were successfully updated from the log tables in the event of another data export.

  4. You repeat steps 1 to 3 until there are no more errors in the transport log.

Result

You have specified the set of attributes and extracted data from personnel administration in the SAP ERP HCM system to the SAP Identity Management system. The data is initially stored in the staging area that you have set up for the employee-related data, before it is automatically persisted in the related identity store.

To check the successful transfer of the data from SAP ERP HCM to SAP NetWeaver Identity Management more thoroughly, and to evaluate possible transfer errors, you should check the data in the staging area and identity store.
