The system uses this function to automatically delimit or delete successor assignments and talent assignments for employees (see Delimit) if one of the following situations arises:
An employee previously assigned to a position as a potential successor becomes the new holder of this position.
A talent's employment status changes from Active
to Left Company
, Inactive
, or Pensioner
.
The system delimits or deletes the following assignments:
Assignment |
Relationship |
Relationship Description |
Related Object Types |
---|---|---|---|
Successor assignment to a position |
740 |
|
|
Talent assignment to a talent group |
743 |
|
|
Indication of a talent as potentially suitable for the jobs in a job family |
744 |

|
The system delimits these relationships or deletes them if a personnel action results in one of the following changes for the employee concerned:
An HR administrator specifies an employee that is assigned to a position as a successor as the new holder of this position.
This means that in addition to the existing relationship Is Successor Of/Has Successor
(740) between the employee's central person and the position, the system creates a Holder
relationship (008) between the same position and one of the following objects:
Employee's central person (object type CP
)
Personnel assignment assigned to this central person (object type P
)
User assigned to this central person (object type US
)
Business partner assigned to this central person (object type BP
)
An HR administrator changes an employee's employment status from Active
(3) to Left Company
(0), Inactive
(1), or Pensioner
(2).
Note
If the employee concerned is in concurrent employment, the employment status must be changed accordingly for all of his or her personnel assignments. As long as the employee still has a personnel assignment with the status Active
, the system does not delimit or delete his or her successor assignments and talent assignments.
Depending on the situation, the system decides whether assignments must be delimited or deleted.
For more information, see Decision on Delimiting or Deleting Successor Assignments and Talent Assignments.
The system creates a log in which it records all automatically delimited and deleted relationships and indicates them with a corresponding reason.
Example
Possible reasons are:
Work relationship is inactive
Employee is retired
Employee has left the company
Employee becomes the position holder
In the launchpad, the talent management specialist can display the log with the delimited and deleted relationships for the employees in his or her area of responsibility.
