If, in talent review meetings, you include talents in the calibration grid that did not previously have a valid performance assessment and/or potential assessment, in the background, the system creates records for the infotypes Performance
(7409) and Potential
(7408). If you then move the talents in the calibration grid, the system changes these infotype records.
Generally the system proceeds as described under Performance Values and Potential Values in the Talent Review Meeting.
The system uses the following date specifications for the infotype records:
Standard processes for performance assessments and potential assessments
If you implement the standard processes for the performance assessments and potential assessments, the system uses the validity periods defined for these processes in Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development under
.Note
The following processes are the standard processes:
Performance Management
(PMP
)
Potential
(POT
)
Customer processes for performance assessments and potential assessments
If you implement customer processes for the performance assessments and potential assessments, the system uses the periods defined in Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development under
. It proceeds as follows:The system uses the key date of the current analysis period as the valid-to date of the infotype record.
The system uses the day after the key date of the previous analysis period as the valid-from date of the infotype record.
Note
The implementation of customer processes means that there is no entry for the standard processes PMP
and POT
in Customizing under Define Process Periods and Groupings
.
Recommendation
In this case, we recommend that you create analysis periods for which the key date is at the end of each analysis period.
In detail, the system proceeds as follows to define the valid-from and valid-to date of the infotype records:
Infotype Potential
For records of the Potential
infotype, the system uses the following date specifications:
If you implement the standard process POT
, the system uses the validity period specified for this process for the records of the Potential
infotype.
If you also implement the standard process PMP
for potential assessments, the system uses the validity period specified in Customizing for this process for the records of the Potential
infotype.
If you implement a customer process, the system uses the analysis periods defined in Customizing for potential values for the records of the Potential
infotype. It proceeds as described above.
Infotype Performance
For records of the Performance
infotype, the system uses the following date specifications:
If you implement the standard process PMP
, the system uses the validity period specified for this process for the records of the Performance
infotype.
If you implement a customer process, the system uses the analysis periods defined in Customizing for performance values for the records of the Performance
infotype. It proceeds as described above.
If you return talents that you moved from the Open Assessments
screen area to the calibration grid to the Open Assessments
screen area, the system restores the original status. This means that it deletes the newly created infotype records.
You implement the standard processes for performance assessments and potential assessments. In Customizing, the following validity periods are defined under Define Process Periods and Groupings
:
Process ID |
Valid From |
Valid Until |
---|---|---|
PMP |
01/01/2010 |
12/31/2010 |
POT |
01/01/2010 |
12/31/2010 |
You conduct a talent review meeting on March 5, 2010. In the talent review meeting, you specify performance values and potential values for a talent for whom there was no valid performance assessment or potential assessment before the talent review meeting.
The system therefore creates the following infotype records:
Infotype Performance
Valid from: January 1, 2010
Valid to: December 31, 2010
Infotype Potential
Valid from: January 1, 2010
Valid to: December 31, 2010
You implement customer processes for performance assessments and potential assessments.
In Customizing, under Make Settings for Analysis Periods
, you create the group of analysis periods Z_YEAR
with the following analysis periods:
Analysis Period |
Start Date |
End Date |
Key Date for Performance |
Key Date for Potential |
---|---|---|---|---|
|
January 1 |
June 30 |
December 31 of previous year |
June 30 of current year |
|
July 1 |
December 31 |
December 31 of previous year |
December 31 of current year |
You conduct a talent review meeting on March 5, 2010. In the talent review meeting, you specify performance values and potential values for a talent for whom there was no valid performance assessment or potential assessment before the talent review meeting.
The system therefore creates the following infotype records:
Infotype Performance
Valid from: January 1, 2009
Calculation
Previous analysis period = Z_PPHALFY2
for 2009 = July 1 - December 31, 2009
Key date of the previous analysis period = December 31 of the previous year = December 31, 2008
December 31, 2008 plus 1 day = January 1, 2009
Valid to: December 31, 2009
Calculation
Current analysis period = Z_PPHALFY1
for 2010 = January 1 - June 30, 2010
Key date of the current analysis period = December 31 of the previous year = December 31, 2009
Infotype Potential
Valid from: January 1, 2010
Calculation
Previous analysis period = Z_PPHALFY2
for 2009 = July 1 - December 31, 2009
Key date of the previous analysis period = December 31 of the year that contains the analysis period = December 31, 2009
December 31, 2009 plus 1 day = January 1, 2010
Valid to: June 30, 2010
Calculation
Current analysis period = Z_PPHALFY1
for 2010 = January 1 - June 30, 2010
Key date of the current analysis period = June 30 of the year that contains the analysis period = June 30, 2010
