 Working Through a Career Planning Scenario

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Human resources Next navigation step Personnel management Next navigation step Personnel development Next navigation step Planning Next navigation step Career. End of the navigation path

  2. The Career Planning screen appears.

  3. If necessary, change the object type.

  4. Enter the object name or the object ID in the corresponding field.

  5. If necessary, change the key date for planning.

  6. Select the planning criteria you want to include.

  7. The criterion Exclude dislikes is really only useful if used in conjunction with another planning criterion.

    You can use the planning criterion Additional career independently of the criterion Include career .

  8. If applicable, enter a career of your choice in the Additional career field.

  9. Choose Enter.

  10. Choose Start of the navigation path Planning Next navigation step Execute. End of the navigation path

  11. The Career Planning screen appears. In the top section of the screen, the system displays standard information on the planning object you selected. In the career plan, the system displays objects that match each of the selection criteria specified.

    Since the various planning criteria are independent of each other, the same objects might appear several times in the career plan (under different selection criteria).

  12. To display the ranking list for the objects, choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Ranking list End of the navigation path .

  13. The Career Planning screen appears. This ranking list is sorted by suitability range or suitability percentage. The planning criteria that the objects meet are displayed in the right-hand section of the screen.

    Depending on the settings made in Customizing, only a limited number of objects might be displayed. You can scroll through the list, or even display the entire list by choosing Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Display ranking list End of the navigation path .

    Each object is displayed only once in the ranking list.

    To toggle between the suitability ranges and the suitability percentage, choose Start of the navigation path View Next navigation step Suitability % on. End of the navigation path

  14. You can save the career plan and ranking list to file, or print them.

  • To save to file, choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Save to PC file... End of the navigation path

  • To print out, choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Print. End of the navigation path

Result

You have created a career plan for the planning object selected. You can use this career planning scenario as a basis for further evaluations. See Evaluating Careers .
