Setting Up Post Processing Framework for Output ManagementLocate this document in the navigation structure

  1. Open the Maintain PPF Settings Customizing activity under Start of the navigation path Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications Next navigation step Reusable Objects and Functions for BOPF Environment Next navigation step PPF Adapter for Output Management End of the navigation path.

    Create an application with an appropriate name. An example of an appropriate name is /SCMTMS/TRANSPORTATION.

  2. To create an action profile, select the newly created application, and choose the Define Action Profile and Actions pushbutton.

  3. Create a new entry, using an appropriate name.

    An example of an appropriate name is /SCMTMS/CFIR. Enter the following information:

    • In the Category of Object Type field, select the Persistent Class radio button.

    • In the Object Type Name field, enter /BOFU/CL_PPF_CONTAINER.

    • In the Context Class field, enter /BOFU/CL_PPF_CONTEXT.

    You can create one or more action profiles for a business object (BO) node.

  4. To create an action definition, enter a non-technical business name for the action definition.

    For example, /BOFU/TEST_CUSTOMER_PRINT is the name of the PPF action that you can use to print customer data (BO /BOFU/TEST_CUSTOMER) when you create or change a customer.

  5. In the Action Definition tab, in the Processing Time field, enter Processing when saving document.

    Enter Processing using selection report if you need the system to process the request later in a batch, and not directly after saving.

  6. Select the following checkboxes:

    • Schedule Automatically

    • Changeable in Dialog

    • Executable in Dialog

  7. If the output is partner dependant, select the Partner-Dependant checkbox.

    In the PartnerFunction field, enter the partner function of the partner to whom you want to send the output.

  8. Enter the following information:

    • In the Determination Technology field, enter Determination Using Conditions that Can Be Transported.

    • In the Select Rule field, enter Conditions Using Business AddIn (BAdI).

      This is the rule type for evaluating the schedule and start condition.

  9. In the Action Description tab, enter the action description.

  10. Depending on your business requirements, in the Action Merging tab, update the settings as appropriate.

  11. To create a processing type, in the Permitted Processing Types of Action table enter one of the following:

    • Method Call to create outputs such as business-to-business (B2B) and application-to-application (A2A) communication, BI data postings, and events for an event management system

      If you enter Method Call, in the Method field enter /BOFU/PPF_STANDARD.

    • External Communication to action printout, fax, or e-mail in PDF-based print forms

      If you enter External Communication, enter the following information:

      • In the Form Name field, enter the name of the PDF-based print form

      • In the Form Type field, enter PDF-Based Forms

      • In the Format field, enter /BOFU/PPF_STANDARD

    • Trigger Alert to action an alert

      If you enter Trigger Alert, enter a new alert category. Enter the following information:

      • In the Communication strategy field, enter Default Communication Type

      • In the Alert Exit field, enter ALERT_EXIT_LOCAL_PPF as the filter value of an implementation of a BAdI.

    • Workflow to action a workflow
