Use

This function enables you to create and change careers. A career is a collection of jobs or positions, and describes a generally applicable career path within the organizational structure. By defining careers, you can portray the principal personnel development paths within your company.

You can use careers as a basis for career and succession planning. You can also use careers for human resource PR purposes, since they provide you with an easy means of showing (potential) employees the career opportunities that are open to them if they prove suitable and perform well.

Prerequisites

You need to have defined jobs or positions before you can create careers.

Features

The following functions are available:

You can create an unlimited number of careers.

A career can extend over all the organizational units in your company.

You can portray vertical and horizontal movements within your organizational structure and thus model all kinds of careers (managerial careers, for example, or professional careers).

A career can contain any constellation of jobs and positions.

You can display and edit careers using SAP Network Graphics.

You can save the list of all careers to file and/or print it out.

You create careers in Customizing for Personnel Development . Once the customized component has been implemented, you can make changes to a career plan by choosing Start of the navigation path Human resources Next navigation step Personnel management Personnel development Settings Current settings Edit careers.
