 Empties

Definition

Empties represent a type of returnable packaging in Empties Management . Empties are normally subject to deposit requirements .

Structure

The system uses empties data to manage information on empties. Empties data comes from master records, empties movement records, reports, and so on, and can be independent or be summarized in the empties block.

Empties blocks are special areas on, for example, delivery notes and invoices, in which the system enters information regarding empties for each customer.

Empties Management differentiates between the following two kinds of empties:

Untied Empties

Untied empties are empties that are not filled or packed with material. If material is removed from reusable packaging, the reusable packaging is left as untied empties.

Note Note

Examples of untied empties:

End of the note.
  • An empty water bottle

  • A crate without beer bottles

  • An empty barrel

  • An empty pallet

  • An empty Big Bag

Tied Empties

Tied empties are empties materials that only exist or are moved with a link to an empties-relevant material. In this context, the material flagged as tied empties assumes the packaging function.

Note Note

Examples of tied empties:

End of the note.
  • A full water bottle

  • A crate of beer containing full bottles

  • A full barrel of wine

  • A filled Big Bag

Because the full product (for example, liquid goods) cannot be delivered separately (loose, without packaging), the material and tied empties together form a fixed unit from the perspective of the full product. This does not apply to untied empties. Untied empties can also be moved or posted separately without material (upon return delivery to the vendor, for example – exchange of empties).

Structured Empties

Entry help as part of the ordering process. Structured Empties has been introduced as entry help so that you do not have to enter the empty crate and the empty bottles every time, for example, when you are entering the material in the order or in the purchase orderYou enter the structured empty as a separate material in the material master.

Name for empties that are made up of more than one component. These are generally crates and the reusable bottles they contain. Other kinds of reusable packaging consisting of several components can also be processed, however.

Example Example

Examples of structured empties:

End of the example.
  • Structured empties S1:

A crate with 20 standard 0.5 l beer bottles as a unit, without contents

  • Structured empties S2:

A crate with 11 standard 0.5 l beer bottles as a unit, without contents

  • Structured empties S3:

A crate with 12 1.5l PET bottles as a unit, without contents

  • Structured empties S4:

A Big Bag with charcoal

The structure category has been introduced in the material master to enable structured empties to be distinguished from other materials. You can flag a material as a normal material, a full product or as a structured empty.
