Use

When you create a Characteristic Grouping , you can design an interface for the characteristic grouping.

Characteristics that are hidden in value assignment by organizational areas, dependencies, or the Extras → User settings function are not shown on the processing screen for interface design (see Hidden Characteristics under Value Assignment Functions ). There is an empty space on the screen for such characteristics. The other characteristics are not moved up, so that the display is not changed on any forms that exist.

Procedure

Choose Characteristics. You see a dialog box with all the characteristics created, in which you select the characteristics you want to group together.

Inserting or Deleting Characteristics

Choose Characteristics and select the characteristics you want to insert or delete.

Moving Characteristics or Defining the Sequence of Characteristics

You can move the characteristics and/or values (only for pushbuttons) to define your own sequence of characteristics.

1. Select the characteristic or value you want to move.

2. Place the cursor where you want the characteristic or value moved to.

3. Choose Move. The characteristic or value is moved to the new position.

The following functions only apply to interface design for pushbuttons!

Settings for Characteristics and Characteristic Values

To define whether a characteristic and its values are processed as a unit or separately (for example, when you want to move them), choose Settings.

Defining a Border

You can put a border around characteristics or values. To do this:

1. Place the cursor where you want the top left-hand corner of the border.

2. Choose Border.

3. Enter a description of the border. You can also maintain language-dependent descriptions for the border, by choosing Descriptions.

4. Confirm your entries.

You see a message telling you to select the lower edge of the border. Confirm this message.

5. Place the cursor where you want the bottom right-hand corner of the border.

6. Choose Select.

The characteristics are surrounded by the border, which has the description you entered.

If you want to delete a border, select the border with the cursor and choose Delete.

Inserting or Deleting a Row

To insert rows, choose Edit → Insert . To delete rows, choose Edit → Delete. Rows are always inserted above the cursor.
