Copy Values Assigned to ObjectLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can use this function to copy assigned characteristic values for any object to other objects.

Prerequisites

The target objects selected have the same class type and the same object table as the template object, but the target objects and the template object need not be classified in the same class.

The characteristics for the values you want to copy are the same for the template object and the target objects.

The following restrictions apply:

  • Interval values are not processed.

  • User-defined data types are not supported.

  • Reference characteristics are not supported.

Procedure
  1. Enter a class type. If the class type is for multiple object types, you see a list of the object types that you can select. Select an object type.

  2. If you have processed the object with a change number, you can enter the change number or a date to determine a valid change status.

  3. On the Values tab, select the characteristics you want to copy and choose Copy char. values.

  4. Change Values

You can change values for target objects. For example, you can select several values for multiple characteristics. To display the values, choose the possible entries. This does not change the template object!

  5. On the Target objs tab, enter the objects to which you want to copy the values.

Find Target Objects

  • You can use the Find object pushbutton to select target objects. Select the objects you require in the search result and choose Copy.

  • You can also use customer enhancement CLMMD001 (Selection of Objects for Mass Processing) to select objects. Choose Find object: enhancement. This pushbutton only appears if the customer enhancement is activated.

Change Number

On the tab, you have a second opportunity to enter a change number. If you want to maintain the new values of the target objects with a change number, enter a number here.

Indicator: Overwrite existing values

If you select this indicator, any existing values for the selected target objects are deleted and overwritten. To see existing values, choose Display values.

  1. To copy the assigned values to the target objects, choose Carry out a mass change.

You can test the mass change first, to avoid inconsistency and ensure that the result is what you expect. Choose Test . The test is logged, but it is not written to the database.

Log

Once you have made the change, the log is displayed automatically. If you want to see the log again during further processing, choose Display log.

If you double-click on the step, you see messages that you can postprocess directly in a second screen area. Select the message and choose Continue processing objects. For more information on the log, see the Application help.

More Functions

For a description of the individual pushbuttons on the Values tab, see Value Assignment Functions .

On the Target objs tab, you see the term Entry. This shows you how many objects exist when you are making complex mass changes. You can also go directly to an object by entering the line number.
